Statens Serum Institut of Denmark.
Statens Serum Institut (SSI) develops, produces and sells
in vitro diagnostic products for clinical microbiology, veterinary diagnostics, food control as well as environmental and hygiene control. The SSI Diagnostika product portfolio includes specific pneumococcal antigens and a reagent for pneumococcal serotypes as well as a complete range of grouping and serotyping antisera for Streptococcal, Pneumococcal, Salmonella and E.coli bacteria. SSI Diagnostika also provides some specialised kits for Dermatophyte detection and measurement of antibodies to Pseudomonas aeruginosa for helping in the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis patients.
We believe these products will very nicely complement products such as the BacSpot walk-away automated colony counting systems, as well as other techniques such as flow-cytometry kits for the detection of sepsis and PCR technology for drug resistance:

BACSpot – a walk-away, fully automated system for the acquisition and counting of bacterial colony plate images. Auto-sorting into positive and negative plates. BACSpot represents
the way forward for increasing throughput and reducing labour costs in busy labs offering food and environmental testing services

A.I.D.s range of reverse hybridisation kits represent an easy, cost-effective, sensitive ansd flexible alternative to qPCR techniques.
A number of pathogens (wild type or mutated drug resistant types) can be detected with, in some cases, just one amplification.

All kits have the same amplification procedure and hybridisation temperature

All kits come complete with an analysis program that can be used with the A.I.D. scanning system to automate interpreatation of the blots,

Test panels are available for:
C. difficile
TB drug resistance
MRSA
Influenza
Community acquired pneumonia - bacterial and viral including drug resistance programme
Human papilloma Virus - screening & typing
Please use the table below to choose a technique or an infectious agent:
1. RapidScan – PCR based kits using fragment analysis on ABI instrumentation
2. ELISpot – exquisitely sensitive cellular level protein expression assays to look at immunological response to a mitogen
3. Immunofluorescence – the gold standard technique for rapid CMV detection in transplant patients
4. Immunoblots- a range of western blots ideal as a confirmatory test to standard serology
5. RHDB – reverse hybridisation dot blots- PCR based assays suitable for smaller volume testing, which can be fully automated with A.I.D.s strip reading system.
